This week on The Realist Spotlight, meet Chaucee- the brilliant 22 year old who created Streets and Stripes, a Philadelphia Lifestyle and Fashion blog.

What made you start Streets and Stripes?

I started S&S as a freshman in college. I used my blog as a new medium to express myself through photography, sharing things I liked, fashion & lifestyle,ย  and my love for Philadelphia.

What inspires you?

I get inspired from my friends, the people that surround me, trips I take, books I read, and photography blogs I follow. I regularly meet with friends where we sit down and talk, and our conversations inspire me not just as an artist, but as a human being.

What are five things you’d tell your 20 year old self?

Well, seeing as I was only 20 two years ago, here’s what I would say: Save money, keep reading, you have no reason to doubt, don’t drink too much coffee, and you’ll figure it out.

Name three places an out of towner must check out while in Philadelphia?

The Italian Market, South Street, and Northern Liberties. Philly is a city made up of little neighborhoods and they each have something unique to offer! Browse my blog for some of my favorite places in each neighborhood.

What do you love the most about Philly?

I love all the unique characters. I’m constantly surprised by Philadelphia. There’s a lot of creative people here pursuing their craft and it’s constantly encouraging and inspiring to meet them. It’s also a great location! We’re an hour away from the beach, two hours away from NYC, and about an hour away from the mountains.

Where areย  your favorite places to shop in Philadelphia?

Aoki Boutique, Once Worn Vintage, and Buffalo Exchange

Favorite cheesesteak place: Jim’s, Pat’s or Gino’s?

Can you believe I haven’t had Jim’s? So I’m going to go with Pat’s, but I have heard some good reviews of Jim’s and plan on getting over there as soon as I get over my wheat allergy:(

What words do you live by?

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didnโ€™t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.โ€ – Mark Twain
