All That Glitters Is At NYFW

All That Glitters Is At NYFW

The old saying may tell us “All that glitters is gold,” but at Style 360’s NYFW Boy Meets Girl & Just Dance runway show, gold was far from being the only thing glittering. Hot pinks, eye-popping blues, electric greens and straight-up sequins lit up the runway at this energetic show held in Manhattan’s Metropolitan Pavilion. Boy Meets Girl designer, Stacy Igel, created a brilliant display when she combined the eccentric designs portrayed in Ubisoft’s Just Dance 4 video game with the youthful Boy Meets Girl clothing brand.

Throughout the evening, the audience was treated to a variety of Igel’s designs – some of the brightest, most flamboyant pieces I’d ever laid eyes on. I was thrilled to see, that each beautiful model that stepped out from behind the curtain seemed to be having the time of her life. Blowing kisses at cameras and throwing winks and waves to audience members who would receive them, the girls sported each sparkling ensemble with a dazzling smile, and walked with pep in each step as the appropriately pop-heavy music carried them down the runway. It was a stunning display of sequined tops and shiny skirts, feathered headpieces and metallic accents. It certainly brought the color and vivacity of the Just Dance! game to life as each model twirled around and flirted with the camera lenses at the end of the runway.

These grinning bombshells were joined during the show by a handful of celebrities, bringing an electrifying energy to the audience. The event began with 17-year-old pop star Austin Mahone rocking the runway with his hit single “What About Love” and dance moves that you just might see in the Magic Mike sequel. Also gracing the runway with their presence were Pitch Perfect’s Brittany Snow and professional Tennis player Sloane Stephens – both donning some of Igel’s designs and walking with the models during the show.

The overall vibe of last Thursday’s show was colorful and festive, infusing the excitement and energy associated with the Just Dance! brand with the cute, contemporary style of Boy Meets Girl. Igel’s unique collection effectively embraced pop culture and explored its effect on the fashion industry. Everyone involved seemed to enjoy his or herself, and it was a fun and memorable way to close out Style 360’s New York Fashion Week events. Following this show, I think it’s safe to say that “All that glitters was at NYFW.”

Kristen once received the ‘Eccentric Dresser’ award during a sorority event in college and still isn’t sure whether that means she won or she lost.
