If’ you’re as big of a fan as I am of Stanley Kubrick, then pack your bags and book a flight to Los Angeles- STAT. British artist Simon Birch has partnered with Hong Kong-based design firm KplusK to recreate “the barmecide feast”- a replica of the iconic bedroom in 2001: A Space Odyssey. By far one of the most bizarre scenes in 2001: A Space Odyssey, seeing this in person will send chills up your spine. The disorienting bright light and bizarre decor is sure to leave you feeling on edge and nervous in the best way possible.

The immersive room can be found at Birch’s 14th Factory. The 14th Factory is multiple-media art and documentary experience. It hosts 14 connected art spaces conceived by Birch and his partners. I’ll definitely be checking this out when I visit L.A. this summer. For visiting hours and ticket information visit here.

Oh my, the bright lights actually make the whole room look clean, modern, regal(?) and perhaps futuristic. It just really brings out the detail of the furniture!
