We’ve all been there: pumped to go to the gym, only to have a little voice inside our heads tell us to go and buy takeout pizza instead. It’d be funny if it weren’t so detrimental to our collective health.

The problem with that voice is that it’s so easy to listen to. You’re tired: you worked out yesterday. You deserve a break. You have better things to do. It’s okay if you treat yourself to a doner kebab.

You can pop right on down to the nearest fast food joint and buy yourself a bucket of ice cream to munch on all night because you walked to work this morning.

All of these excuses get into your head, and you want to believe them, desperately. Getting fit isn’t always fun. It requires effort and will power, especially at the start. And those can be two commodities you don’t have.

In this article, we’re going to take a look at how you can ignore that annoying voice in your head that’s telling you not to work out. Check out these tactics to shut it up.

1. Bring Your Gym Into Your Home

Traveling to a public gym, taking a change of clothes, showering, getting changed, and making yourself presentable is hugely time-consuming. A 45-minute stint on the treadmill can quickly morph into a two-hour trip – and that’s if the traffic is good. The cost of a gym membership is enormous too. And we’re not just talking about the membership fees: you almost always need to consider transport costs also.

Bringing your gym into your home is one potential solution. Equipment like the Maxiclimber makes it easy to get a decent workout without any of hassle. All you do is start using your home equipment and then stop when your workout is over. There’s no waiting around in traffic or spending dozens of dollars every month at the pump.

2. Go To The Gym For Fun

All of the best personal trainers in the world know that fitness is all about mindset. If you’re one of those people who looks at regular gym-goers with a sense of awe, then stop. These people usually aren’t battling the same apathy demons as you. Instead, they quite like going to the gym. It makes them feel good, and it’s an excellent way to get rid of the stress of the day.

Changing how you see your fitness regimen can make an enormous difference in how you feel about it. Takeout pizza might sound like a good option if you loathe exercise, but it’s not as powerful if you love it.

Going to the gym isn’t about hitting PBs or grunting your way through hours of heavy weights. It’s about enjoying the time you spend there and making it a part of what you like doing. The people in the gym week after week aren’t there because of willpower. They’re there because they love it: pure and simple.

Silencing those voices can be tough. But silencing them can help open up a world of benefits you never thought possible.
