Keeping your shirt tucked i is one of those annoying daily things you’ve got to do. You might not even be aware of how often you are adjusting your shirt throughout the day — after reading this you should start noticing (sorry about that).

The good news is with awareness comes the ability to make different decisions & we aren’t going to leave you hanging. We’ve got some simple hacks that will help you keep your shirt tucked so you don’t have to keep adjusting it all the time.

Hack 1 : Make your shirt stay with a shirt stay… ( we didn’t think that one through)

Ever heard of a shirt stay or a shirt garter? We are starting here because this is the hack that most men know about. And since it is quite obtrusive most men decide that it’s too much hassle and would rather just keep adjusting their shirt by hand.

The shirt garter or shirt stay is a suspender which attaches to the end of your shirt and runs down your leg to either your thigh or all the way down to your socks or feet. The most comfortable shirt stay is a garter style, however, there is an advantage to wearing a shirt stay that attaches to your socks.

This style not only keeps your shirt tucked in but also keeps your socks up. For special occasions and formal events, the shirt stay is a good hack to use but every day, it can be a bit uncomfortable.

Hack 2: Make proper use of your underwear

It goes without saying that you should be wearing a shirt which fits. If you have too much excess fabric then none of these hacks are going to work very well. So, assuming you are wearing the correct size of shirt & you have the correct underwear to go with it — namely an undershirt — this hack works well.

Assuming you are wearing an undershirt, and if you aren’t then why not because it’s one of the quickest ways to improve the appearance of your shirt & your own comfort throughout the day.

With your undershirt, shirt, underwear & pants (trousers) you have four layers of material to work with. Instead of tucking your undershirt and shirt into your pants (trousers), tuck your undershirt into your underwear, and your shirt into your pants. This separates out the material and also causes some friction between them so that everything stays in place.

You might need to adjust this once or twice throughout the day but not as much as you would without the hack & it’s a comfortable & free method to use.

Hack 3: Tuck like the military

When it comes to keeping up appearances the military is a good bunch to learn from. You don’t even need to look to the military, just look at your local policeman and you’ll no doubt find a wonderfully tucked shirt.

This hack is a great one to use if you’ve broken one of the rules of wearing a shirt and brought one that’s too big. Let’s face it — it’s happened to all of us. When your shirt is too big there is a lot of excess fabric and this is the stuff that starts untucking and looking messy. It can also add quite a few pounds on because the extra fabric puffs out and can look like a belly. To avoid this the military tuck is a simple hack to make sure you don’t have that excess fabric flapping about.

What you’ll need to do is put your shirt on and button it up, then put your pants on and leave them unbuttoned by zipped up. Then, tuck your shirt into the front and make sure that the fabric is flat. Then you want to make a dart on either side of your shirt with the excess fabric. Once both darts have been made tuck the back in and button up your trousers. Make any final adjustments you need and you are good to go!
