4 Reasons to get Outside NOW

Written by Angelica

I understand that many people don’t always enjoy the outdoors. They don’t like camping, hiking, or getting dirty – and that’s okay! But, from someone who has practically grown up outdoors and absolutely loves nature, I firmly believe that getting outside will improve your life in many ways.

1. Sunrises and sunsets are spectacular.

I understand a busy schedule and the importance of sleep. The majority of us are stretched too thin and trying to balance everything on our plates. But waking up early to see a sunrise will have this inexplicable effect on you. For me, it offers a type of serenity I cannot find anywhere else. And in a world that is stressful and often overwhelming, we can all use a little peace.

2. Garden strolls are stunning.

I’m very aware that it’s winter.  There aren’t very many flowers in bloom unless you’re living in California. Yet gardens in winter can be equally as beautiful. We often think of leafless trees as “dead” – but they are simply resting and waiting to blossom again! The ice or snow on the branches has a different type of attraction. Plus, going on a walk through one this time of year is much less crowded and gives you time to yourself!

3. Running, jogging, or walking outside will empower you.

Whatever your level of fitness, get outside. Being active in the fresh air is so much better than running on a treadmill and breathing in the stink of a sweaty gym. You don’t have to judge yourself or you pace against the person next to or in front of you. Because outside, it’s just you. You and the outdoors connecting.

4. Refresh yourself by getting away from the buildings.

Our world is turning into more buildings. How many of us are cooped up inside an office all day with no windows? While we may love out jobs, staying inside for so long will begin to make us feel trapped. In order to stay refreshed at work, step outside or work outside! It may make you a little chilly or a tadbit sweaty depending on the time of year, but well worth it in the end.
