UR SEXY: 5 Fall Fashion Must Haves for Men
Written by Lamar Dixon
No need to mourn the end of summer fellas. While the weather won’t be as accommodating to bearing the arms you’ve worked on since March, fall’s cool weather does give the opportunity to sport a plethora of gear, accessorize fully and generally step up your style game. Trends for this fall point to a resurgence in collegiate inspired gear, but with slim silhouettes and autumn inspired color palettes that can easily be classed up for nighttime maneuvers, or casually paired with denim for a tailgate before kickoff. So grab a pen and paper for what you need to know on fall flyness – school’s back in session.

Cargos: Those overly baggy cargo pants you’ve been holding on to since junior year in high school? Bury ‘em. The ones you need now have been reconfigured to remove all the bro-tastic excess fabric, and fit slim and straight like your favorite denim. You’re not playing Frisbee at the park in these, so throw a style curveball by dressing them up with your favorite equally slim fitting oxford, wool tie and the must have fall item #4 below.

Varsity Jackets: This one, you don’t have to suffer through two-a-days for. Varsity jackets are a classic piece of American style that has resurfaced with a look that walks the line between sporty and luxe. You’re not flexing in fourth period English with this piece, so the patching has been kept to a minimum, if not totally eliminated. The focus is on fabric and contrasting detail, and with such basic details it increases its versatility. White tee? Of course. White button down and trim bowtie? Boss.
Cable knit sweaters: Let the Cosby sweater jokes commence! But there won’t be any laughing when you’re surrounded by ladies who love a man in a comfy, classic sweater. Like the aforementioned items, we’re keeping the fit slim, but not too much as you want to be able to use it as a layering piece when the temp drops and comfortably pull it over a polo or button down. Material is everything with this sweater, so play the acrylics and synthetic fabrics to the left if possible and go strictly with wool. Hand knit for the ballers.

Suede Oxfords: Yes, yes. Those “Cool Greys” may have turned heads in the summer, but in autumn, patent leather has to bow down to suede. With the flexibility oxfords add in being dressy, but not too too much, they add the perfect touch of class to denim or balancing a look like the cargos mentioned above.

Encounter by Calvin Klein: In keeping things in line with the season, making sure your fragrance game is on point is equally as important as every other detail in your autumn ensemble. Time to put away the floral and citrus scents and go with those reminiscent of the season – woody, spicy, leathery, dark. Encounter by Calvin Klein hits the nail on the head. Like most woody fragrances, Encounter is paired with a citrus, mandarin-like top note, resulting in a deep scent of rum, cognac, and slight musk. But by the time it reaches dry down, a subtle cedar smell emerges, like you spent the day sipping bourbon in a mountain cabin.
