Chow Down Vegetarian-Style at The Wild Cow Nashville

Simply the word “vegetarian” generally scares most people off from any kind of food. Vegetarian dishes always get the smallest portion of the menu at restaurants and a bad reputation for being over priced and underwhelming in flavor. Cue The Wild Cow Restaurant in Nashville, Tennessee to change the minds of the masses and make even the most carnivorous of people into tofu eaters. (I’m totally serious.)

The Wild Cow is a short 10 minute drive from Downtown Nashville and is surrounded by hip coffee shops and restaurants. Take one step in the door and you will notice this isn’t some corporate affair trying to make money off veggie-loving millennials, but rather a cozy down-to-earth place to relax and chow down on all things vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free. During my visit, the space was busy but not too crowded for a Sunday during brunch hours. I ordered a raspberry iced tea which was perfect for a hot late July mid-morning. Overwhelmed by the delicious-looking vegan cakes and cupcakes on the front counter and the extensive brunch and lunch menus, unsurprisingly it took me forever to order. I finally ordered the Buffalo Tempeh Strips for an appetizer and the Veggie Quinoa Bowl with grilled tofu for my entrée. I also tried the Cinnamon Roll and Tofu Scramble from the brunch menu and was shocked that the vegan cinnamon roll was even better than any regular cinnamon roll I had ever tasted. In review, when you visit, don’t leave without trying the cinnamon roll or you will be more than sorry.

Overall, I was extremely impressed with The Wild Cow because the food and drinks were fresh, locally grown, and animal-product free while also being so good I have yet to stop craving their food. When you find yourself in Nashville and are looking for an intimate space to relax and give the burgers a break, type “1896 Eastland Avenue, Nashville, Tennessee 37206” into your GPS and prepare yourself for the best vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free fare you’ve ever tasted.
