UR GIVING: Gift Ideas for Your Man
Written by Whitney Blomqusit
Every year I stress over what I’ll get my boyfriend for our anniversary. He would be happy with a kiss and a card, but giving him something special to celebrate our relationship is important to me–relationships are accomplishments after all! It’s nice to hand make a little something to go along with an actual gift he’s mentioned he could use throughout the year. This year our anniversary snuck up and I ran out of time to actually make something so I created a Mosaic photo book from my iPhone photos. It’s so quick, easy and affordable ($25 for 20 pictures including shipping & handling). The best part is that it arrives in about 4 days, making it the perfect last minute gift. Here are some other practical gifts for your kind of man on any occasion!
The Collegiate– Is your guy still in college or grad school? Not in school? A lot of young businessmen are switching out the classic briefcase for a nice backpack. I got my boyfriend a new backpack to start his final year of college with because he desperately needed one. Fill it up with some of his favorite treats to add a personal touch!
The Foodie– The way to every mans heart is through his stomach. Most big cities, and even some smaller towns, have a Restaurant Week during which amazing meals are available for even more amazing prices. Pick 3 or 4 restaurants he loves or you think he’d love and get him a gift card to each to use during restaurant week. The most expensive meal during Restaurant Week is $35 at most places. If you get 3 gift cards at $35 each, you’ve just barely gone over $100! Here are Restaurant Week listings for some of TheUrbanRealist’s favorite cities:
- NYC (July 22- August 16)
- Atlanta (September 7-15)
- Philadelphia (September 15-20 & 22-27
- Miami (August 1- September 30)
The Athlete– If your significant other plays on an adult league, a new pair of running shoes or those $100 dollar football gloves that seem so unreasonably priced might be a good idea for a special occasion. Even better are tickets to his favorite teams game. If you get tickets the day they go on sale, you can usually get a great price. This year we purchased Ravens tickets the day they hit the market but weren’t able to get seats together so we are reselling them at nearly double what we paid and hopefully we’ll be able to use that money to get awesome seats together! Use this tactic and you might be able to score some pretty impressive seats to the best games of the season.
The Tourist– My boyfriend and I both love going to new places together. Even if it is relatively local, it can still be fun to visit somewhere you have never been. At airbnb.com you can find a place to stay nearly anywhere in the world for really affordable prices. Book a trip and surprise him with a short getaway that you’ll both benefit from.
The Smoker– If your boyfriend smokes cigarettes check out this e-cig to help him kick the unhealthy habit. We’re not claiming it is safer than an actual cigarette, but the ability to reduce overall stench and that weird cigarette breath is definitely a plus! It is also cheaper in the long run.
If your guy prefers “essential oils” get him a G-Pen. They have complete sets for under $100!
