How to Organize a Perfect Bridal Shower

Last updated:

Organizing a bridal shower is one of the main tasks the maid of honor has. If you were given this role for your best friend’s wedding, you need to make sure that a party goes perfectly well and the bride has the time of her life. However, for that, you need to plan accordingly and prepare. Don’t worry, though – we are going to help you with that.

In this article, you will find our bridal shower preparation checklist, which includes inviting guests, booking a venue, decorating, getting presents, thinking about fun activities to do, taking care of the food, and many more. Read on and make sure that your friend’s bridal shower is just perfect.

Choosing a Theme for a Bridal Shower

Before anything else, you need to decide on a theme for the party. It will help you decide what dishes to serve, what decorations to use, and even which trending custom gifts to buy. You can decide the theme yourself, or you can ask for the bride’s opinion – maybe she has some ideas for her bridal shower she would like to try out with you.

There are several types of themes you can choose for a bridal shower. For example, if the bride is a big fan of an artist or an actor, you can organize a theme based on their work. You can also base your theme on the bride’s favorite color or hobby, and consider checking a website with discounts like Tripplo since buying cute decor can get expensive quickly.

Choosing a Venue

If the bride lives far away, and you want to throw the bridal shower at her home, you can just ask her to host it there. However, if you want to organize a little trip for her or if you plan to invite more guests, you need to think about a different location.

Still, while traveling, you shouldn’t forget about necessary precautions, as COVID-19 cases are spiking in many states once again. That’s why you should limit contact with surfaces that are frequently touched; it is also advisable to wear a mask while indoors or outdoors in crowded areas. On top of that, wash your hands frequently.

There are many options for venues. You can book a restaurant, but this option works if you have a lot of people attending the party. Otherwise, it might not be that comfortable for all of you. Other options include renting a hall or room in a restaurant or local hotel or even hosting a party in your (or bride-to-be’s) garden.

Decorating the Venue

There are two ways of decorating the venue. The first one is by choosing decorations that fit the theme of your party. For example, if you have chosen a garden theme, you can use flowers and plants to decorate the venue, if you have chosen a winter theme, paper snowflakes will work perfectly, and so on.

The second way is to use decorations for the party that don’t have any connection with your theme. In this case, you might want to use lights or balloons in different colours, hang photos of the bride and groom on the walls, and offer party hats for the guests. While this option may not be as aesthetically pleasing as the first one, it will definitely bring much fun.

Getting Presents

You need to get presents for your friend’s bridal shower as well as prepare a list of presents that guests should bring along. Remember that if the bride-to-be can’t decide what presents she wants to get, you can always give her a gift card. But make sure that no guests bring similar presents.

Thinking About Fun Activities to Do During the Bridal Shower Party

Most of the guests will enjoy simply talking to each other about the upcoming wedding. However, it may be beneficial to think about some other fun things to do – for example, playing board games.

You can get some card games or cards with different questions on them that guests will need to answer and then vote for the funniest answer. Other possible ideas are themed elections where guests will have to vote for the bride’s favorite film or book, TV show or book character, etc. You can also organize an activity where guests will need to guess the bride’s favorite item or color or food.

You can also make DIY projects like making decorations for the party, painting a canvas, decorating a photo frame with a picture of the bride and groom, making friendship bracelets, or any other project that might be interesting for your guests. Just don’t forget to prepare prizes for the winners!

Picking the Food and Beverages for the Party

One last thing that you need to decide when organizing a bridal shower is what type of food you are going to serve at this party and what type of drinks. Depending on the type of party, you can go for something simple, like sandwiches and wine/beer, or order some restaurant-prepared meals, like meat or pasta. Or, you can always ask the guests to bring something themselves.

As you can see, organizing a bridal shower is not a difficult task to do. All you need to do is follow our advice and do everything in the right order. You will have plenty of time to prepare for the party – just make sure to organize it well and not forget about any of the points mentioned above.

Remember that the main person who should like the party is the bride-to-be. Don’t hesitate to consult her if you are having problems picking a theme or doing anything else – unless the party is secret, of course.
