Tips on Keeping Your Home Business In The NOW

Danasiafantastic Founder, Editor-in-Chief

Being an entrepreneur is very fulfilling, but running a business from home is never easy!

Trust me, I know. I’ve been running my businesses from home since I started working full-time for myself in 2016.

It can be easy to get caught up in day-to-day operations without realizing you are falling behind when it comes to your competition.

It’s important that your business and branding don’t look outdated.

To continue to grow, you have to constantly be aware of what’s happening in your industry!

Here are a few tips on how to ensure your home business doesn’t get left behind.

Modernize Your Website

A good, fast, easy-to-use website is paramount when it comes to running your home business!

I can’t stress this enough!

It’s also essential that it’s equally as fast on mobile devices.

Google’s algorithm prioritizes speed and accessibility, so if your site is hard to read and slow, your organic search traffic will plummet!

It’s good to modernize your website once or twice a year.

With a service like redspotdesign.com, it won’t take as much work as you think.

It’s imperative that your branding is consistent, your site is fast and easy to read, and that your product pages are well built out.

Consider Modern Purchasing Methods

Modern purchasing methods are important when running a home business.

You don’t want to lose out on revenue because you are behind with the times when it comes to how your customers can pay for your products or services.

Reliable handling of customer payment information is key. Customers want to know that their information is secure and that their card information won’t be hacked.

In addition to Paypal and Stripe, many home businesses are offering their customers the option to pay using Apple Pay, Google Pay, and even crypto-currencies.

Also, a lot of home businesses are allowing customers to partially pay upfront using systems like Klarna and AfterPay.

Decide which ones are feasible for your business and implement them!

Register A Domain Email Address

I’m adding this to the list because you’d be shocked at how many businesses don’t own their domain name and don’t have a branded domain email address.

I personally use Godaddy to purchase my domains and then use Google Workspace to create my branded email addresses.

Which one inspires more trust and authority?

Claire@imaginarybusiness.com or claireimaginarybusiness@outlook.com?

You can see the difference!

Using your domain address email feels more cohesive than another email address at Outlook or Gmail.

Update Old or Outdated Content

If your business has a blog component, it’s time to update old or outdated content.

As someone who runs two blogs, this can feel incredibly time-consuming, but I’m telling you it’s necessary!

While this is something I’m still learning about, check out this blog post from Neil Patel about why and how to do it regularly for the online component of your home business.

Using these tips will keep your business from feeling outdated and will ensure that customers will find you online!
