Most of us love the idea of traveling, but don’t necessarily have the means or the time to make it work. Traveling is something I feel like I must do, but at this point in my life it isn’t financially feasible. Luckily, my boyfriend is brilliant and has introduced me to the beauty of Day Trips. Normally when I think of the type of traveling I want to do, I think of traveling internationally, but that mindset keeps me from traveling to amazing gems that are in my own backyard. For example, he took me to a local museum last weekend. After living in New York City, I was extremely skeptical of what Jacksonville’s museum had to offer, but it turned out to be a great experience. I took this photo in their impressionist exhibition. They wanted us to be able to see how white light has a variety of colors in it.
The museum also had a collection of beautiful gardens.
Needless to say, I was shocked. It made me realize how sometimes the very beauty we seek has been there the whole time. This past Saturday, we took a day trip to Savannah. I fell in love with it five minutes after we had arrived. The historic downtown area stole my heart.
SCAD was hosting an International Festival. While we walked around I was stopped and photographed by an AMAZING fashion blogger named Mangue Banzima. Definitely check out his site! Here is the photo of me that made it on to his blog. He and his family were so nice! It was great to connect randomly with a fellow blogger.
After lunch David and I went to the Social Club for a drink and then headed home.
I’ve written all this to say, stop and look around you. Take a day trip and explore. It might not be the idea of traveling you had in mind, but you never know who you might meet or what beauty you might find.
