Moving house can be a stressful process to say the least. You may feel as though you have so much going on and that you can’t possibly fit everything in. This is understandable, but with a bit of work, you can be sure to get the best result out of the whole process.

1. Book a Removal Company.

When you have decluttered your belongings and when you have a rough idea of the items you are going to be taking with you, it is then time for you to book a moving company. Sure, you can do it yourself, but this will add a lot of stress to the move and you may even find that you aren’t covered if you break anything.

This is the last thing that you need, so hire someone who can take care of all the heavy and delicate items for you. Moving companies tend to have insurance and they are experts when it comes to meeting deadlines.

2. Declutter Your Belongings

Decluttering is essential and the best time for you to do it is when you’re moving house. It’s super important that you do it before you move too because if you don’t then you may end up paying to take the clutter with you. One way for you to declutter effectively would be for you to get three boxes.

One should have “sell”, and the other two should have “donate” and “throw” written on them. When sorting through your clutter, make sure that every single item goes into one of the boxes.

3. Pack as Early as you Can

You should always get started on your packing as soon as you possibly can. Having a plan of action is crucial here, as it will help you to sort through each room as you get to it. When packing your boxes, make sure that you label each one with the items that are inside.

Sure, having a kitchen box is great, but if you’re in desperate need of a frying pan because you need to cook up some quick bacon sandwiches then you just won’t know which box to look in and this can be frustrating. If you want to get the best result out of this then create an Excel sheet.

4. Arranging your Utilities

It’s so important that you arrange your utilities, gas, home insurance and even council tax as soon as you can. This will save a lot of stress when you are moving, and it will also help you to have way more time to relax and settle in. A lot of people choose to leave utilities until the last minute and this causes them major issues.

You may feel as though you have to wait longer to get your internet installed or even that there are delays with the whole process. All of this can be avoided if you are organized and if you are able to notify your utility companies well in advance. Notifying your mail carrier is also crucial, so you can set up redirects.
