By now, assuming you haven’t deleted your Twitter account and been living under a rock, you’ve probably figured out the regular NFL season officially kicked off this past weekend. Yes, after this summer’s national soccer fling, the long nightmare of being deprived of athletic events of the bone-crushing variety is over. Speaking of bones, we’re also smack dab in the middle off New York Fashion Week which means the rate of beautiful skeleton spottings has gone way up.
This sublime bit of serendipity is happening at a perfect time. Over the past couple of years, young football stars have become more conscientious about the way they dress when not on the field. Gone are the days when a player would rock a boxy, ill-fitting suit to a post-game press conference or, more likely, throw on some plain old sweats to talk to the media. Today’s athlete is way savvier about his sartorial choices.
So in honor of football season and NYFW, here’s a roundup of the top 5 most stylish players in the NFL.

Dion Jordan
Dion Jordan made quite a splash during the 2013 NFL draft, showing up in a well-proportioned shark-skin blue suit, paired with a snazzy orange striped bow tie to bring the whole look together. Unfortunately, the beginning of this season finds Jordan serving a four game suspension for violating the league’s policy on performance enhancing substances, which means four less chances to see him rock another fly suit.

Victor Cruz
Victor Cruz is a regular at New York Fashion week. And it looks like it’s rubbed off on him. The Giants star wide receiver is fond of tailored suits and not afraid to throw bold details – like windowpane checks and patterned ties – into the mix. Rumor is, Cruz is working on an updated version of his popular salsa end zone dance for the new season. Who knows, maybe we’ll see him suited up and ready to dance on Dancing with the Stars one day.

Tom Brady
When you’re New England Patriots quarterback, Tom Brady, and you’re married to supermodel Giselle Bundchen, you’ve got to bring your fashion A-game. Brady knows how to accentuate his all-American good looks in well-tailored classic suits and doesn’t mind bringing in a bit of edge by experimenting with different hair styles and lengths. He even cut his beard out of frustration after losing the Patriots first game of the season.

Reggie Bush
The former Kardashian beau and Detroit Lions running back dresses like a sportscaster in training. That’s a compliment. Bush has the confidence and poise in a grown up suit to make people take him seriously. And he makes smart fashion choices like putting a warm weather twist on formalwear by pairing a suit jacket is linen pants. Bush will have to worry about fashion later, though, as he and the Lions prepare to take on the Giants in their first season game.

Robert Griffin III
Washington’s football team quarterback has been called the nattiest baller in the league. There’s certainly no arguing that. RG3 is a man who knows his proportions. His suits always fit him well and he always finds a way to throw in some fun with a pop of color (usually his socks). His team lost their opening game of the season but a closet full of great suits should cheer him up.

Mark Sanchez
In his pin striped suits, you can imagine Philadelphia Eagles QB, Mark Sanchez, one day being the team’s general manager or something. The handsome player doesn’t go too far with his look like other, flashier players. It’s all business for him. And that’s probably why it works. Online Eagles fans were eager to see Sanchez play during the teams opening game, blowing up twitter with their pleas.
