It’s no secret that I love fall. So it only makes sense that I would love pumpkins as well. Pumpkins are traditionally most popular around Halloween, but I definitely think they can be used as decor all throughout the fall season.
Don’t get me wrong, Halloween is an awesome holiday and so much fun! But I’m not big on the scary, creepy, spooky thing. I hate scary movies and I just don’t think gruesome murder is cute. Sorry! So I never participated in pumpkin carving past my childhood. But as I get older and more into lifestyle and DIY, I realize that there are so many more options for using pumpkins as decor besides the traditional jack-o-lantern.
So I decided to have a little pumpkin decorating party, complete with pumpkin flavored cocktails and cinnamon spice candles. With minimal supplies and low-cost pumpkins, this DIY is super easy and so much fun!
1 Can Spray Paint (color of your choice)
Glitter + Glue (optional)
1 Metallic Paint Pen (I used nail polish instead!)
Step 1: Tape off whatever design you’d like on your pumpkin. I went for an asymmetrical dipped gold look. Some fun options include stripes and chevron.
Step 2: Spray the pumpkin with your spray paint.
Step 3: After the paint has dried (just a couple minutes), take off the tape and discard.
If you’d like to incorporate glitter, simply draw your design with the glue stick and sprinkle on the glitter. I used mine on the stem (is that what it’s called?) part of the pumpkin. Then I painted on some leaves and wrote “HAPPY FALL” with my metallic silver Essie nail polish. It would be much easier to use a metallic paint pen, but I couldn’t get my hands on one in time. Oh well, I like how mine turned out anyway!
How do you decorate your pumpkins for fall?
