First, let me start out by saying photo challenges these days are a dime a dozen and can be INSANELY annoying. Nothing puts me in a bad mood faster than signing onto Instagram every day for a whole month and seeing “Day Twelveeee! Sunglasses onnnnn!” No, thank you. For that reason, this is not your average photo challenge. Instead of posting a picture every single day and steadily losing followers, post two pictures a week for 10 weeks on Twitter and/or Instagram and tag @TheUrbanRealist and add #TURsummerphotochallenge. If you start in the next couple weeks, you can end around the beginning of August which is the end of your summer if you’re still in college like me (sigh.)

The point of our photo challenge is to provoke you to get out of your comfort zone, experience things you probably wouldn’t have thought of trying before, and basically make this your best (and possibly funniest) summer ever. You don’t even have to follow this perfectly! Use this as a guideline and make this photo challenge and summer yours.

Week One: Make something from your DIY Pinterest board; Get a makeover at a makeup counter

Week Two: Throw/attend a BBQ; Chat with random people, tell them in a minute or so you have to go, say, “But first, let me take a selfie” in that voice (you know which one I’m talking about), then take a selfie with them in the background.

Week Three: Start a blog; Take a class at the gym

Week Four: Do something different with your hair (doesn’t have to be cut or color!); Hand out popsicles to strangers

Week Five: Road trip! (somewhere you’ve always wanted to go); Camp during this road trip

Week Six: Take an art class (try an online company like Skillshare!); Play at least one elevator prank

Week Seven: Go to a baseball game; Try a new trend

Week Eight: Go to that crazy restaurant Downtown; Leave encouraging notes on peoples’ cars

Week Nine: Have you/a single friend give a guy your/their number; Go to a concert

Week Ten: Do something on your bucket list; Pay for someone’s order behind you in line
