We all lead such hectic lives. Just the basic 9-5 usually means that time spent with our significant others is limited and that doesn’t take into account we’re not always full of energy or feeling 100% committed to a conversation.
When you both have free time on your hands or the weekend finally rolls around again, you’re probably both making an effort to spend some quality time together. The tough part is- figuring out what to do!
A weekend away is always a nice solution (check out the Vogue edit of the best weekend breaks in the UK )– but it’s unrealistic to head off every weekend. That’s why I’ve come up with 4 other ways for you two to spend more time together:
1. Exercise together
Chances are – if you’ve both been together for a while now – you’ve seen each other hot and bothered, sweaty, messy and not always looking your best. But love runs deep and neither of you could care less.
So, with that in mind why not introduce a little movement into your relationship? They say that the couple who sweats together stays together! Sharing a common goal, the release of stress and endorphins – they all make us feel good and it’ll really make you feel closer.
You don’t have to sweat it out at the gym, you could do something fun like indoor rock climbing or a dance class.
2. Head outside
You’ve had a hectic week and I know the idea of staying in to order takeout and binge-watch Hulu is tempting. But there are plenty of reasons to head outside too.
Spending time in green space lowers your blood pressure and your stress levels and doing that with someone you love? Perfect. Sharing the benefits of a happiness boost and just general conversation with your partner is a great way to spend a Sunday outdoors.
3. Work on a project together
Sharing a goal, working together, aligning your interests and bouncing ideas off each other is so infectious and fun. No matter how big or how small your project is, working on a project together is great way to connect.
Try creating a cookbook of all your favorite recipes, building DIY projects you’ve had your eye on or even writing a blog of all your adventures together. It doesn’t have to be profit oriented, just something you can both benefit from and enjoy accomplishing.
4. Go for a drive
An uninterrupted drive is a super simple way to catch up with each other and spend time together. Consider taking a drive to hit yard sales in a neighboring town. Stick on your favorite albums and you could be gone for hours!
