It’s best to put your health first from the get-go, so that you can develop healthy habits before you get in the field. 1. Take Time Out for Yourself

If you want to make sure that when you’re at work you’re on point, you need to take time off each week to do things for yourself – you will feel better for it. Whether you run your own business or work for an employer, having time for yourself is so important. Once you’ve finished work for the day, go home and do what you want to. Don’t take your work home with you. Head out for drinks with the girls or guys, attend an exercise class, sit with a glass of wine and read a book – do whatever it is that you enjoy, and don’t feel guilty for doing it.  



2. Reach Out to a Therapist


Just because you are working in medicine doesn’t mean that you are immune from all the difficulties of life. If you can’t care for yourself then how do you care for others? It is impossible. At times when you are feeling like the pressure is getting too much and begin to feel overly stressed out, it’s important to seek help. This could be a friend or family member, or it could be a therapist. Local help, such as counseling or stress-relieving yoga, for instance, can do wonders for your mental state.
